Client Reviews
I had the pleasure of working with Aleem and Kalu interiors on a complete condo renovation and re-design in 2021, and again recently in selecting new furnishings for my space. Aleem's aesthetic eye is incredible, his design of my apartment in 2021 was a highly personalized process with so much attention to detail, including how he sought lots of client input in terms of materials, finishings, etc. Aleem also worked so collaboratively with the contractor and provided consistent updates on the progress. The condo redesign won a couple of awards when it was completed in 2021. 5 years later, I continue to get constant compliments on my apartment thanks to Kalu Interiors. I contacted Kalu Interiors again recently to seek guidance on new furnishings because I trust his vision for the space, and would do so again in the future. Thank you Aleem and the Kalu Interiors team, I so appreciate you and your beautiful work!

We’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with Aleem, Phyllis, and the incredibly talented team at Kalu Interiors on multiple projects. Their creative vision, professionalism, and commitment to excellence have consistently impressed us and elevated the final results. We had the pleasure of teaming up with Kalu Interiors for our joint booth at the Interior Design Show Vancouver 2024. Where they led the design and construction of the booth. The result was phenomenal and turned the space into an absolute showstopper. The Kalu team is collaborative, inspiring, and always pushing creative boundaries. We can’t recommend them enough to anyone looking to bring something truly special to life.

My husband and I had the pleasure of having Aleem Kassam, of Kalu Interiors, design our kitchen renovation. We had a great experience, not only working with him, but also in the quality of the work done. Aleem was responsive to our needs, prompt in responding to us and understood our needs. We are very happy with the outcome and would use his services again.

My experience with Kalu was excellent and I would recommend them for anyone seeking a renovation. This job was renovating the kitchen and bathroom in a 523 sq ft 1990’s era condo conversion in a heritage brick former warehouse on Gastown. Aleem recommended finishes for my kitchen including countertop, backsplash tiles, fridge and range hood, cabinet door wraps as well as new lighting throughout the entire apartment. Aleem also suggested a complete redo of the bathroom, removing a soaker tub and installing a spectacular walk-in shower that maximizes the space and is a daily joy to experience. All finishes in the bathroom and kitchen repeat or reference one another to bring cohesion to the small space. The updated kitchen, redone bathroom and low profile lighting have completely transformed the space to be bright, welcoming and contemporary. Aleem was very responsive and managed all aspects of the renovation and arrangements, suggesting beautiful, functional and affordable solutions and finishes. Summer 2021 was a high demand period for trades and labour, coupled with a shortage and backlog of product. Aleem scheduled around these challenges and chose mostly in stock product to minimize disruption. I couldn’t be more pleased with the experience and the results.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Aleem from Kalu Interiors to renovate my apartment, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Aleem brought a fresh, inspired perspective to every corner of the space. From the lighting to the finishes, every detail was thoughtfully curated to reflect my style and elevate the overall vibe. What impressed me most was Aleem’s professionalism and collaborative spirit. He listened carefully, respected my budget, and kept the project on track without ever compromising on quality. The team at Kalu Interiors was equally fantastic—efficient, courteous, and clearly passionate about their craft. Working with Aleem Kassam and his team at Kalu Interiors was an exceptional and fun experience from start to finish. Their extreme professionalism stood out immediately, and Aleem took the time to truly understand my dreams and expectations for my finished space—every detail mattered to him as much as it did to me. We worked with Aleem on an extensive renovation of our house. He is an excellent communicator with impeccable style and was able to translate our ideas into a timeless design. Most importantly, he delivered a high-end result while working within our budget—helping us get the most for our money without compromising on the finish. He was also very adept at navigating the differences in opinion between my wife and me. We cannot recommend him any more highly.

Aleem and his team at Kalu Interiors are always professional and very reliable ….meeting deadlines on a consistent basis. Anyone who has dealt with renovations or building projects knows the frustration of unnecessary delays and poor communication….this won’t be your experience if you hire Kalu. AND they do the most beautiful work - you won’t be disappointed before, during or while you sit back and enjoy your stunning home once it’s done!

My experience with Kalu, and particularly Aleem has been nothing but exceptional! We had consulted with two different companies to complete our office renovations and from the moment Aleem walked into our office I knew at that moment he was 100 percent without a doubt the one we would hire. He understood my vision and came back with incredible designs. We barely went back and forth because he got it instantly and nailed the design. Not only is he amazing at what he does but he is so educated in his field and knows wall structures and what can be placed where without disturbing the frame of the space. He worked with all our other vendors like a true champ and a team player! I will 100 percent without a doubt hire Aleem’s team again! My experience was seamles!

As the owner of Luminous Cabinets LTD, I can't say enough good things about Phyllis, Aleem, and the entire team at Kalu Interiors. For the past 7 years, we've had the pleasure of being one of their custom cabinet and millwork suppliers, and it has been an outstanding experience from day one. Their professionalism and creative vision are top-tier. I can't remember how many times I was amazed by their designs. Don't forget Sima and Vanessa! Without them, we couldn't get each job done smoothly. It's a genuine pleasure to work with people who are so committed to craftsmanship and client satisfaction. Anyone looking for an interior design firm that is both outstandingly talented and a pleasure to work with should look no further.

My company works with some of the top design firms in Western Canada and so we know quality when we see it. Last year we began to work with the team at Kalu and here is what we think: one of the nicest groups of professionals, easy to work with, exceptionally focused on their clients and they do great work! If you are thinking about a project and want it to be exceptional, highly recommend you talk to the team at Kalu Interiors!!

Aleem and the Kalu team are unstoppable!! They will make your home a show stopper! I first met Aleem when I hired him to design my townhouse. I was blown away with his design ideas, and his ability to understand what I wanted. And he was fun to work with, which is nice when renovating can be a little stressful at times. I recommend Aleem to all my friends and clients!

We have worked with Kalu Interiors for close to 8 yeas and have complete over 50+ projects together. After being in the construction industry for over 20 years we can say that Aleem, Phyllis and their team at Kalu are the best in the city. Their knowledge of not just design, but of how construction works, helps immensely as a General Contractor. That knowledge flows from their design plans straight onto the worksite to help stream line the projects and the projects timelines. Tall Tree construction couldn't recommend Kalu Interiors anymore. They are absolute stars to work with!

We're SO happy to have found Aleem and Kalu Interiors to work with. From the very beginning, Aleem was so easy to work with. Selecting interior finishings can be overwhelming but Aleem was great at making the process transparent and fun. The professionalism at Kalu is excellent - deadlines were never missed, work was done to the highest quality, and they worked well with our vendors. Aleem was also knowledgeable beyond the aesthetic aspect of design, helping us to choose things that were practical to our lives (such as materials that are easy to clean). One thing we appreciated was that Aleem never pushed a certain style on us - when we felt something didn't feel right, he was adaptable and easy to work with to find something that felt like home to us. We're thrilled with our end result - which is a reflection of Aleem's knowledge and passion for design - and we will ALWAYS recommend Kalu Interiors.

Working with Aleem and the team at Kalu has been nothing but extraordinary. I'm not sure how they do it, but they have such a creative and artistic eye when it comes to design! Their personal attention that they were able to bring to the project that they designed for us was above what we are used to as a general contracting firm. Hands down, I would absolutely recommend Aleem and the team at Kalu!! Kalu was faced with the mission of designing a Laneway Home for us in Vancouver and it was no easy task. With such a small space, they knew how important it was to make sure each detail was right in order to maximize the space and get the best use possible. The outcome, and result, left us an extremely happy builder and the left the homeowners incredibly happy clients! Thanks Aleem and Team!!

Kalu Interiors is a phenomenal company to work with. We've gone through renovations with two properties over the years and both times we engaged Kalu Interiors for help on architectural design and interior design. We were able to work with Aleem Kassam for both projects and he + his team were so amazing to work with. Beyond the specific deliverables, which were of high quality, we were so pleased with Aleem and team's incredibly quick responses, expertise in their domain, and just how much they cared about the end product for us. I highly recommend Kalu Interiors!

A huge thank you to Aleem and the Kalu Interiors team! I first reached out to Aleem a couple years ago after coming across Kalu Interiors' incredible online portfolio on Houzz. My home is in Los Angeles, and seeing that Kalu was based in Vancouver, I wasn't sure it would be a fit. However, after speaking and video conferencing with Aleem, sharing photos, and talking through ideas, I was excited to have his help. Aleem is a true professional -- always excellent communication, and has a PASSION for design. Aside from his superb design talent, I was impresed at Aleem's knowledge in all the minute technical details from window shade motors, to hardwax oil vs polyurethane floors, to the differences between using porcelain and quartz slabs on a fireplace. I'm pretty hands-on, and wanted to do my own research and find and vet contractors myself. Aleem was very helpful guiding me through the process to ensure I found quality contractors and even coordinated quality materials at good prices. End result - our living space is beautiful, modern, and comfortable. Most importantly to me, Aleem and the Kalu team are a joy to work with. Friendly, thoughtful, and always with so much positive energy. Beyond a trusted Interior Design partner, I now consider Aleem a friend. I am thankful to have found Aleem and the Kalu team. Highly recommended - you won't be disappointed!

I recently had the opportunity to work with Aleem on a complete home redesign and I couldn't be happier with the results! From our first consultation, Aleem was attentive and professional, taking the time to understand my needs and style preferences before presenting a thoughtful and creative plan for my space. Throughout the entire process, Aleem was communicative and detail-oriented, making sure every aspect of the design was perfect down to the smallest detail. The team at Kalu worked seamlessly with the contractor and other vendors to ensure a seamless installation and the end result is simply stunning. Not only did Aleem create a beautiful and functional living space for me and my family, but he also made the entire process fun and stress-free. His positive attitude and dedication to his craft is truly inspiring, and I would recommend Aleem or his partner Phyllis to anyone looking for a talented and professional interior designer. Thank you, Aleem, and the entire Kalu family for your amazing work and for making my home feel like a true reflection of who I am!

We had the pleasure of working with Aleem of Kalu Interiors on a bathroom renovation, and I cannot recommend them enough! From start to finish, they exceeded all of my expectations and made the entire process quite a breeze. They were incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and skilled. They took the time to understand my vision for the space and worked closely with me to create a design plan that was both functional and beautiful. Great eye for detail and made sure every element of the renovation was executed flawlessly. Throughout the renovation process, the team at Kalu was extremely responsive and communicative. They kept me informed every step of the way and made sure that I was comfortable with every decision that was made. The end result of the bathroom renovation was absolutely great. We have purposely waited until now, 3 years after the fact, to do this review, just to see how our renovations have held up over the test of time. We are pleased to say that we are happy with and truly appreciate the design and functionality of our home today more so then the day the renovations were completed. Aleem and his team are positive, fun and easy to work with. He was very good at listening to what our vision was and he came back with a design that exceeded our expectations. I’m sure that all projects have bumps along the way and ours was no exception but Aleem and his team were able to seamlessly pivot and handled these problems with ease reducing any stress we were feeling. Aleem is an energetic and insightful professional. He seemingly had all the time in the world for us ( we never felt rushed ) to educate and advised us so we could confidently make good decisions. All of this translates into Great Value……and we will continue to seek their wisdom for our future design needs. We strongly recommend Kalu Interiors.
